Synopsis of the event:

The Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation organizes every year a lecture in memory of the philologist, literary critic, and historian of modern Greek literature, C. Th. Dimaras. The 22nd annual lecture will be held at the NHRF, through the generous support of the Center for Hellenic Studies. Harvard Professor David Armitage will give the keynote address, entitled “World History as Oceanic History: Beyond Braudel”. Maria-Christina Chatziioannoy (Director of Research at the Institute), and Ioannis Petropoulos (Director of CHS Greece) will give the opening remarks.
