About the program
Overview
This annual interdisciplinary three-week course was established in 2022 with the aim of engaging participants both conceptually and in practice with key issues related to contemporary forced migration. A front-line migration country for distress migrants, Greece provides an important location for studying the theoretical and practical aspects of this topic. The curriculum offers approaches to migration policy and practice based on multidisciplinary resources from the legal, medical, environmental, and broader social sciences, and is further enhanced by participation in fieldwork. As Harvard's local global office, CHS Greece has been supporting logistically and administratively, along with CHS US, this joint initiative which connects the two institutions from US and Greece since its first cycle.
Eligibility and scholarship opportunities
Interested alumni, graduate and senior undergraduate students may submit their application for one of the two selection procedures depending on their home institution. Harvard-affiliated candidates can apply through the FXB Center application platform. Students of Greek universities and of academic institutions around the world (non-Harvard) have the opportunity to apply through the RMS Hub Summer School webpage.
Harvard applicants with a refugee background and with demonstrated financial need are eligible for two funding opportunities through the Albina du Boisrouvray Scholarship offered by the FXB Center. In addition, non-Harvard candidates with a refugee background or asylum seekers residing in Greece are given priority for several other scholarships offered in the context of this program.
