About the Events Series

Events Series is one of the longest-running CHS Greece activities, launched in 2008. The Center invites prominent academics and experts from various fields from Greece and abroad, and addresses the local communities of the Argolis region and of Greece, through an annual series of lectures, panel discussions, and presentations that take place on a monthly basis. Each annual cycle of the Events Series engages with a new general topic.

Throughout the years, CHS Greece has joined forces with many authorities and institutions in organizing its annual series of events, such as, but not limited to: the Municipality of Nafplio, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the Museum of Byzantine History of Thessaloniki, the National Library of Greece, the MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art, the Universities of Patras and of Crete, the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, the Society for Promoting Education and Learning, the Municipality of Ermionida, and others.

Events Series in 2022: "Public Discourse in Times of Crisis"

EVENTS SERIES 2022. PUBLIC DISCOURSE IN TIMES OF CRISIS / Poster of the 2022 cycle's title in Greek featuring a few grey and blue tiles against a white background.

The Events Series 2022 focuses on the value of reasoned public discourse as a cultural, political, and, more broadly, social good, which also affects the private exchange of ideas. Especially in historical moments of crisis and intense ideological rivalry, the exchange of sound arguments and counter-arguments continues to play a decisive role in the operation of civil society.

The five events that form this year's series are listed below and you may find more information on their individual pages. You may also download the Events Series 2022 poster in Greek found at the end of this page in PDF format.  For the 2022 cycle, CHS Greece collaborates with the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Athens for the April event, the National Library of Greece for the May event, along with the support of the Harvard Club of Greece, and the Municipality of Nafplio - "DOPPAT" (Municipal Organization of Culture, Environment, Sports, and Tourism) for the Series's closing event in June.
