2022 July trip to Greece for the Michael Marks Award-winning poets

Last July CHS Greece welcomed the two winning UK poets of the Michael Marks Awards for poetry pamphlets: Rowan Evans, 2019 winner with "The Last Verses of Beccán" (Poetry Award), and Rhys Iorwerth, 2020 winner with "Carthen Denau" (Poetry in a Celtic Language Award).

Paros Poetry Conversation and Translation Symposium

The Paros Symposium is an annual meeting of Greek and U.S. poets, translators, and editors. The symposium, which met for the first time in 2004, was motivated in the words of its organizers, Greek poet Siarita Kouka and U.S. poet Susan Gevirtz, in the hope of “altering our orientations to our own languages and writing, as well as expanding our understanding of the social contexts in which we (respectively) make our work. Michael Marks Charitable Trust & CHS Greece

CHS Greece and CHS US, in cooperation with the Michael Marks Charitable Trust, a UK-based foundation, created the Michael Marks Poets in Residence program in 2009. Since then, UK poets who win the "Michael Marks Award for Poetry Pamphlets" in London and Edinburgh (a.k.a. the Callum MacDonald Award) have been participating in the "Michael Marks Poets in Residence Program" at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece.
