Overview
The Postgraduate Program "Theatre–Education–Society" of the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese, in collaboration with the Municipality of Nafplio, organizes a three-day scientific conference titled "The Gaze of Confinement, the Step of Return: Art, Education, and Transformation" in Nafplio on March 20, 21, and 22, 2026, with the support of Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece and the Laboratory of Criminal and Criminological Research of the Athens School of Law.
The initiative is organized under the academic supervision of Professor Emerita Alkistis Kontoyianni. It will include presentations by distinguished scholars, workshops in the Correctional Facilities of Argolis, as well as a major exhibition of visual artworks by inmates and art instructors on the ground floor of the Vouleftiko. The conference is coordinated by Lina Nikolakopoulou, lyricist, poet, and artistic creator. It is open to the public, and certificates of attendance will be provided.
