Aphrodite Vlachou studied History and Archaeology at the University of Thessaly (Volos) and Museum Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her PhD in 2019 at the University of Thessaly, with a dissertation on the Geometric and Early Archaic sanctuaries of the Peloponnese. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded scholarships from the Foundation for Education and European Culture (IPEP) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

She has held postdoctoral positions at the Ionian University (Corfu) and the University of Münster. As an archaeologist at the Ephorate of Antiquities of Laconia, she conducted excavations on the acropolis and the agora of ancient Sparta and has also participated in fieldwork projects in Attica, Magnesia, and the Cyclades. Since 2020, she has been a scientific collaborator of the Amykles Research Project and recently contributed to the archaeological-geophysical investigation of the sanctuary of Apollo Amyklaios, which was supported by the State Scholarships Foundation.

Her research interests and published works focus on early Greek sanctuaries and the associated cults and rituals.
