Overview
The Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece and the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens co-organize an event titled "Children, Teenagers, and Screens: With a Compass in the Digital World," on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 7 pm, at the CHS Greece building, in Nafplio. In today's digital world, where screens are an integral part of the daily lives of children and teenagers, offering new possibilities but also significant challenges, this event aims to focus on young people's relationship with the internet, on the reasons that make it so attractive, as well as on forms of problematic use and their consequences. At the same time, it aims to highlight the role of parents and educators in preventing, managing, and cultivating a more balanced digital everyday life. Through two short presentations and the discussion that will follow, practical suggestions and pedagogical responses will be presented, with the goal of charting a shared compass for the safe, creative, and meaningful journey of children and teenagers in the digital world. The order of talks and the topics of the presentations are as follows:
- Dona Papastylianou (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) will speak on the topic "Online challenges in adolescence and ways for parents to respond."
- Petros Roussos (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) will speak on the topic "Screens and school: challenges and pedagogical responses."
The event is open to the public and is held in the framework of the "Graduate Research Days in Cyberpsychology" program, organized in Nafplio by the Postgraduate Program of Studies in Cyberpsychology of the NKUA Department of Psychology and supported by CHS Greece.
