Overview
The Argolis community is hosting a discussion event titled "Palliative Care needs a Caring Community," featuring speakers Elisabeth Patiraki and Andreas Mullalli. This event is an initiative of Georgia Kordopati, Director of the Nursing Service at the Nafplio Nursing Unit of the General Hospital of Argolis, who works to promote the principles of Palliative Care and raise awareness among healthcare professionals about its implementation and establishment, in collaboration with Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece. The event aims to highlight the vital role of the community in supporting patients in need of Palliative Care.
Palliative Care is not limited to medical services but focuses on the holistic support of individuals—addressing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. In this context, the active participation of the community is essential to create a network of solidarity and care that embraces people facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses, as well as their families.
By introducing the community to Palliative Care through the presentations of the two speakers and the ensuing discussion, the event aspires to ensure that Palliative Care becomes a right for every patient in need in Greece, as it already is in many other countries. This effort is a shared responsibility for all of us.
The event is being held on the occasion of the 2024 ELNEC (End of Life Nursing Education Consortium) Seminar in Nafplio.
