Synopsis

CHS Greece co-organizes the "Greek Drama VI" conference with Hallie Marshall and C. W. (Toph) Marshall of the University of British Columbia, in Nafplio on June 7–11, 2027. This is the sixth of the (mostly) decennial series of Greek Drama conferences, following Sydney 1982, Christchurch 1992, Sydney 2002, Wellington 2007, and Vancouver 2017. In recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of Oliver Taplin's The Stagecraft of Aeschylus (Oxford 1977), the conference gives particular attention to staging, production, and the impact of material culture on the study of Greek tragedy and comedy. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Taplin, University of Oxford.

The conference will be in-person only. A volume of selected papers is planned, following the earlier Greek Drama conferences. Additional details will be posted once they are finalized.

The call for papers for "Greek Drama VI" closed on August 31, 2026.
