CHS Greece unveils English and Greek websites on the HarvardSites Drupal Platform

CHS Greece is pleased to announce the launch of its new websites in both English and Greek, following a successful migration from the OpenScholar platform to the modern HarvardSites Drupal web publishing platform. This new platform aligns with Harvard University’s updated web standards for branding, accessibility, and security, providing a more modern, secure, and user-friendly experience.

The transition away from OpenScholar, announced in spring 2023 and set to complete in 2025, is a major initiative across Harvard. CHS Greece joined the Harvard network of websites in 2020, and at that time, our team invested significant effort into building and maintaining our sites on OpenScholar. This experience gave the team a strong foundation in best practices for managing web content—expertise that proved invaluable during the recent migration and content optimization process. Christina Lafi, CHS Greece’s Projects and Content Development Manager, coordinated the migration, with significant assistance from Efeli Souflia, CHS Greece–University of Peloponnese Department of Performing and Digital Arts Intern. Their dedication ensured the process was both smooth and thorough.

Despite starting from a strong position, fine-tuning was still required to adapt our content to the new platform. Here, the support of Harvard Web Publishing was instrumental. From online training sessions to regular remote office hours, the HWP team provided expert guidance at every stage, making migration a genuinely collaborative effort that bridged units, borders, and time zones. We extend our deep gratitude to the entire team for their support, with special thanks to Senior Project Manager Gabriel Caro, whose clear communication and responsiveness made him an indispensable liaison throughout the transition.

The HarvardSites Drupal platform enables CHS Greece to better serve its diverse audiences with an improved user experience and updated Harvard-branded layout. As we continue to develop our websites, we remain committed to ensuring that all visitors have easy access to information, resources, and events. We look forward to leveraging new platform features to enhance accessibility, navigation, and engagement further.
