Philosophical Essay Competition Final at the University of Patras
On Sunday, March 3, the final phase of the annual Panhellenic philosophical essay competition for high school students concluded successfully. The qualifying stage saw the participation of 450 students from 69 schools across Greece, with 15 advancing to the final competition, which coincided with a two-day scientific conference at the University of Patras held from March 1-3. The winners of the international leg of the competition will represent Greece in this year's International Philosophy Olympiad, scheduled to take place in Finland. Additionally, the top winner will have the opportunity to participate in the CHS Greece High School Summer Program.
The opening addresses at the event were delivered by the Rector of the University of Patras, Christos I. Bouras; the President of the University of Patras Department of Philosophy, Michael Paroussis; Nicolas Prevelakis and Christos Giannopoulos from Harvard University CHS Greece; the Director of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Achaia, Evgenia Pierri; the Regional Vice Governor of Entrepreneurship, Research, and Innovation of Western Greece, Takis Papadopoulos; and the Deputy Regional Governor of Western Greece, Charalambos Bonanos. The event was moderated by Professor Emerita of Philosophy at the University of Patras and Coordinator of the Competition's Scientific Organizing Committee, Ekaterini Kaleri.
