Mark Schiefsky, Director of the Center for Hellenic Studies, was selected and proudly participated as a torchbearer in the Olympic Torch Relay "Paris 2024" route in Nafplio on April 17. He was among the flame bearers of the city, running with the torch from Syntagma Square to Philhellene Square, which is located right in front of our headquarters in Greece. Following the route in Nafplio, the flame was delivered to the members of the International Olympic Committee, who carried it to its next destination.

The Olympic Torch Relay embodies the rich tradition of the Games, taking us back to their ancient origins. The inaugural lighting of the torch for the Paris 2024 relay, a moment of profound significance, occurred on April 16, 2024, in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympics. The flame will be carried by 600 torchbearers across Greece, passing through 41 Municipalities, and it will finish its trip to Greece at the historic Panathenaic Stadium in Athens.
