Applications are open until September 12 for the new Global COACH Course for Climate and Health Scholars
Following CHS Greece’s successful collaboration with the Harvard FXB Center for Health and Human Rights on the Harvard FXB summer course on migration and refugee studies (PDF) from 2022 to 2024, we are happy to join forces once again with Harvard FXB Center on the new program, “Global Community Organizing and Advocacy for Climate and Health (Global COACH) Scholars.”
This program is hosted by the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University, co-sponsored by the Global Climate and Health Alliance, Stanley Center for Peace and Security, Health Care Without Harm, CHA Center for Health Equity Education & Advocacy, and supported by CHS in Greece.
The course is designed to empower health professionals and their community partners to lead climate-health solutions by building skills in community organizing, strategic storytelling, and health equity leadership. It is offered to any health professionals worldwide who provide direct patient care (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, PAs, psychologists) and to community partners working with health professionals (public health professionals, non-profit leaders, etc.).
The course includes an in-person immersion component in Greece, from March 28, 2026, to April 3, 2026, at the CHS Greece. After the in-person immersion concludes, there will be monthly Zoom two-hour sessions for six months until October 2026. Attendance of all sessions, both in person and online on Zoom, is mandatory.
There is no tuition for the program. The organizers will arrange and cover round-trip, economy-class airfare to Greece, as well as accommodation, meals, and ground transportation during the in-person immersion week.
The program is led by Dr. Gaurab Basu, Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; Pedja Stojicic, Affiliated Faculty at Harvard FXB Center for Health and Human Rights; and Shweta Narayan, Campaigns Lead for Global Climate and Health Alliance. Vasileia Digidiki, Director of the Harvard FXB Distress Migration Program and Director of the Harvard FXB Summer Course on Migration and Refugee Studies, will be among the program coordinators, working closely with our own Programs Manager, Evan Katsarelis, as well as other members of the CHS Greece team to organize every aspect of this unique program.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday, September 12, 2025.
