Synopsis of the workshop:

CHS Greece hosts and supports this workshop of the interdisciplinary project “Orality and Performance in the Greek Tradition”. The workshop examines aspects of the theory of orality and performance as conceived by Parry and Lord and developed into a theory of performance by Gregory Nagy. Special attention is given to the critical appraisal of modern theories of orality and performance, the notion of performance and performativity in textual and oral traditions and on the structure and function of formulae.
