Synopsis of the event:

Under the light of mutual recognition of each other’s educational and community work which has remained unchanged over the years, CHS Greece collaborates with the local Public Central Library Palamidis and the New Library of the Fougaro Art Art Center on a prestigious event. On May 25, 2018, the three institutions co-organise at the Palamidis Library an open discussion on the topic: “Who needs the library today?” CHS Greece Director, Ioannis Petropoulos, will deliver the opening remarks for the ongoing collaborations between the Center and the National Library, the Palamidis Library and the Fougaro Art Center. The Director General of the National Library, Filippos Tsimpoglou, is the guest speaker. Dr. Tsimpoglou will talk about the relocation of the National Library to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and discuss with the public on the role of libraries in modern society. Matina Goga (CHS Greece) will also deliver a speech which focused on the strategic priorities of Harvard’s library system and present statistical data regarding the use of the CHS GR Digital Library.
