Synopsis
The Music School of Argolis is organizing a Festival-Workshop-Masterclass on Traditional Music under the theme "The traditional ensemble in Greece" on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Nafplio. Students and traditional music ensembles from Music Schools are invited to participate. The program includes a lecture by Professor Lambros Liavas on folk songs, a presentation of musical instruments by distinguished musicians, workshops for individual instruments, lunch and discussions featuring impromptu musical collaborations, and a concert showcasing performances by the school ensembles. The activities will be led by music professors from the Postgraduate Program "Ethnomusicology and Music Act" of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, including Alexandros Arkadopoulos (clarinet), Giorgos Marinakis (violin), Nikos Angelopoulos (lute), Stefanos Dorbarakis (kanun), Kostas Meretakis (percussion), and Panagiotis Vergos (santouri).
CHS Greece supports the Festival-Workshop-Masterclass by providing two of its rooms for parallel sessions. The central venue for the Festival will be the Vouleftiko Hall in Nafplio.
