Synopsis

CHS Greece continues to support Greek Universities by hosting their programs at the Center's facilities in Nafplio, and by creating bridges of communication between them and colleagues from Harvard, while contributing to their administrative, logistical, and other needs.

Following the successful synergy that was initiated in 2023, the interinstitutional MA program "Animal Welfare, Ethics and the Law" returns to CHS Greece. This year, CHS Greece and NKUA's Animal Ethics Program expand their collaboration with the Animal Law & Policy Program at Harvard Law School, and welcome more than 40 students in an intensive academic visit in Nafplio. Apart from sessions that students will have with faculty from NKUA and Harvard, they will also have the opportunity to learn about the Center's mission, history, and activities.

Harvard faculty members and administrators, Kristen Stilt, Nicolas Prevelakis and Nirva Kapasi Patel will contribute with their presentations during this study weekend. Kristen Stilt will speak on "Someone: Gaining Animal Rights from Unexpected." Nicolas Prevelakis will give a talk on questions and dilemmas about the effective altruism and animals, entitled "Αποτελεσματικός Αλτρουισμός και Ζώα: Ερωτήματα και Διλήμματα." Nirva Kapasi Patel will speak on "Animal Advocacy and Banning the Sale of Fur."
