The conference explores the reception of ancient monsters across media, from late antiquity to the present day: from monster theory and feminist and queer readings to their depictions across cultures and in film, TV, video games, comics, manga, and anime. Its starting point is Liz Gloyn's monograph <em>Tracking Classical Monsters in Popular Culture</em> (2020), which finds that ancient monsters are "everywhere."</p><p>This is an in-person event.
