CHS hosted a two-day scientific workshop on current developments in obesity and diabetes. The workshop was organized by Christos Mantzoros, a native of Nafplio and Professor of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Harvard Medical School. The event was held in collaboration with the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens and the CHS. The thirty-five participants were selected medical students and junior doctors from Greek universities, including the Military School of Medicine in Thessaloniki. Speakers included Professor Mantzoros, researchers and professors from Harvard, the Academy of Athens and Greek medical schools. Ioannis Petropoulos welcomed the group at the Center and had several meetings, together with Christos Giannopoulos, with Dr. Mantzoros. A serendipitous outcome of the workshop was that a Greek medical student was recruited to join Professor Mantzoros’ research team in Boston for six months in 2015.
