N Michalopoulos was born and educated in Kavala. He first studied Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and he completed his graduate studies (Master and PhD) at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. Michalopoulos has taught at Leeds University Department of Classics, at the University of Thessaly Department of History-Archaeology-Social Anthropology, at the Democritus University of Thrace Department of Greek Philology, and since 2007 he has been teaching at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Department of Philology.
