#  "Olympia & the Struggle for Freedom": 10th International Scholars' Symposium

 10th International Scholars' Symposium on Sports, Society, & Culture in honor of the Bicentennial of Greek Independence  
October 9 & 10, 2021 (virtually)

 Organized by the [Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC, Harvard University](https://chs.harvard.edu/) (CHS US), [International Olympic Academy](https://ioa.org.gr/) (IOA), and [CHS Greece](/), this virtual symposium is organized in honor of the Bicentennial of Greek Independence, and it is designed to shed new light on Hellenic identity formation and state-building within the broader context of the Olympics, ancient and modern.

 It is addressed -free of charge- to forty junior and senior undergraduates, graduate/masters students and PhD candidates from departments that span the disciplines of Sport Sciences, Humanities and Political Sciences in Greece and Cyprus.
