Over the past ten days, [Naomi Weiss](https://nweiss.scholars.harvard.edu/), Chair of Harvard's Classics Department and incoming Director of the CHS (effective July 1), visited Greece and France. In addition to participating in the "Rethinking Archaic Sculpture" conference in Nafplio, Professor Weiss and CHS executives had a series of meetings aimed at expanding existing collaborations and forging new partnerships.

Meetings were held with various institutional representatives and partners, including, among others, Sophia Papaioannou, Vice-Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens; George Mouratidis, Assistant Director at the British School at Athens and CHS Early Career Fellow; the Mayor of Nafplio, Dimitrios Orfanos, and the Deputy Mayor of Education, Aggeliki Panagiotakopoulou; the Vice-President of the Harvard Club of Greece, Marianna Athanasiadou. In France, meetings focused on CHS's collaboration with the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and featured discussions with its Director, Frédéric Worms; colleagues working with CHS on the "Humanities in the Text" joint initiative, including Christophe Goddard, Philippe Hoffmann, and Anca Dan; as well as other ENS experts.

The mission of Harvard's CHS Greece remains firmly rooted in serving as a global office of our University and a sister institution to CHS in Washington, DC, connecting Harvard and CHS US with Greece and the wider world. Professor Weiss's recent meetings in both countries reaffirmed this mission and laid the groundwork for further strengthening our efforts in this direction!
