Research topic during fellowship: *Roman Rule and Local Society in the Province of Macedonia: The Case of Thessaloniki*

Giorgos Athanasiadis studied Classical Philology (BA) and Ancient History (MA) at the University of Athens. He is currently a PhD Candidate at the same university and conducts research on the society and prosopography of Hellenistic and Roman Thessaloniki. He is also a Research Assistant at the Institute of Historical Research (National Hellenic Research Foundation), where he works on a corpus of inscriptions from ancient Crousis and Chalkidiki. His research interests include Greek and Latin epigraphy, onomastics and prosopography, Roman history, and the institutions of ancient Greek cities. He has participated in conferences and published articles relevant to his ongoing research. In the winter semester of 2024, he gave lectures on Ancient Greek Epigraphy in the framework of an undergraduate training course. His master's thesis was awarded the Lysimachos Kaftantzoglou Prize by the School of Philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During his studies, he received scholarships from the University of Athens, the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research (Sylff Fellowship), and the Lilian Voudouri Foundation.
