Research topic during fellowship: *Materializing AI: Critical Geographies and Ecologies of Data in Peripheral Greece*

Danai Liodaki is a human geographer and political ecologist specializing in socio-ecological transformations, grassroots sustainability initiatives, and communal technological experimentations.

She holds an Integrated Master's degree in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens and a PhD in Human Geography from Leipzig University (2025, summa cum laude) and has been a Research Associate at the Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London.

Across diverse empirical sites—from makerspaces and community energy initiatives to urban infrastructures and anti-gentrification struggles—her research explores how socio-environmental orders are contested, and alternative frameworks are materially enacted through insurgent imaginaries and collective practices rooted in care that challenge dominant development paradigms.

She has contributed to international research projects, and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, contributing to debates on socio-environmental justice, collective infrastructures, and alternative futures.
