#### Synopsis

The workshop will delve into the form of water retention infrastructures that construct the countryside with the aim of water supply, electricity, and irrigation, i.e., agricultural production. The Dine of the Argolic Gulf (Anavalos) is a source of submarine freshwater hydrologically connected to the Nestani Plateau. Pausanias mentions it (Description of Greece §8.7.2) and is related to the cult practice of the Argives, who sacrificed horses by throwing them into the spring. In the 1960s, a concrete dam was constructed to contain the spring to irrigate the Argolic plain, while in an ambitious plan, it was proposed as a solution for Athens' water supply.
