About the fellowships
Overview
In support of research opportunities based on collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches and with an emphasis on the general "Sport and Society" topic of their annual symposium, CHS US in collaboration with the International Olympic Academy (IOA) and with the support of CHS Greece, offers up to six Pre-doc Research Fellowships to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students from the collaborating departments of the CHS–IOA Annual International Scholars' Symposium. The program is offered for the academic year 2020–2021 exclusively, enabling participants to collaborate closely with the Symposium's academic advisory committee and aiming to encourage and support pre-doc research and academic opportunities in Greece.
Provisions for the fellows
- Year-long appointment as "CHS-IOA Pre-doc Fellow in Sport and Society" (September 2020–August 2021), during which time Fellows will complete a research project of their own choice, as submitted in their pre-doc fellowship application and approved by the symposium's selection and academic advisory committee
- Year-long access to Harvard University's online databases and resources during the appointment
- Support of the Fellows' respective academic and research needs
- Involvement in the preparation of the educational content of the CHS–IOA 2020 online Symposium
- Participation in the CHS–IOA 2021 Symposium in Ancient Olympia and in a roundtable panel to share research findings
- Year-long online research work on the suggested project and in-person sessions with the designated advisor to finalize the outcomes of research before online publication in late August
- Production of one article/paper for First Drafts@Classics@, and submission of one report for the CHS Research Bulletin
Eligibility
Applications are open to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students from the collaborating departments of the CHS & IOA Annual International Scholars' Symposium, who have been selected for the online version of the 9th Symposium that will take place on December 5 and 6, 2020.
